Volunteers

To assist GEM Camp's regular summer staff, each camp and outing needs volunteer adult counselor/guides. If you are interested in being a volunteer guide/counselor for a week at a Christian fishing camp or helping out at club meetings/outings or day camps contact Dave Lindmark at 952-201-6849. Applications need to be entered two weeks before the volunteer event in order to process recommendations and background checks.

GEM uses a sliding scale in determining week long camp fees. For youth not from single parent, low income families, the fee is $250. For those attending GEM camps through Minnehaha Academy's summer program, the fee is $350. Although this may seem like the best deal in town to some--transportation up north and back,meals, lodging, and daily guided fishing trips for five days--the reality is, most of the kids participating in camps come from families who cannot afford more than the $20 deposit. Thus, Great Expectations Ministries is highly dependent on sponsorships and contributions to enable youth to attend camp and for GEM to meet its annual budget.

There is usually no charge for one day outings for those in GEM Club; a $20-40 fee is usually charged for week end outings. GEM conducts two weeks of day camps (2-5th graders) (6th-8th graders) in conjuction with Minnehaha summer camps. Fees are assigned by Minnehaha Academy. For open enrollment GEM metro day camps, a fee of $20 per person, per day is suggested.
