Letter to Parents and GuardiansDear Parents and Guardians, Brochures, forms, pictures, and information from this web site will give you an idea of what GEM Fishing camps and club are all about, but you may wish for further background on GEM. Great Expectations Ministries was started in 1987 and incorporated as a non profit organization in 1992. Its main purpose is to combine fishing with Christian evangelism and discipleship. My own background in work- ing with youth is that of a teacher and coach at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis for over thirty years. For several years, during the summers, I operated a fishing guide service in northern Minnesota which I called Great Expectations Guide Service. In 1987, I felt led by the Lord us use my love for fishing and experience as a guide to form a Christian outreach to youth--particularly youth from single parent families. I had time and opportunity to develop the camp program for summers, but I found it difficult to do much follow up once my teaching and coaching duties resumed in the fall. In 1992 Jim Bonin, a good friend who loves to fish as well as work with youth, started GEM Club which became a division of Great Expectations Ministries. With the help of other dedicated men and women, GEM Club has continued to grow in year round outreach to youth. GEM Fishing Camp and Club staff consists of two year round salaried staff, two salaried summer staff, five regular club volunteers, summer volunteers, and junior guides (older youth who have taken leadership training and demonstrate maturity and spirital growth). Reference checks are conducted on all volunteer and paid staff. As a reference for me, please contact Ms.Nancy Johnson, principal at Minnehaha Academy upper school (612-729-832).I look forward to having your son or daughter attend a GEM Fishing Camp and participate in GEM Fishing Club activities. In 2010, Great Expectations Ministries began a Joint Venture with a Twin Cities-based ministry called Fishing for Life. As of January, 2012, we are pleased to announce that our two organizations have merged. GEM is now a full-fledged ministry of Fishing for Life (www.FishingForLife.org). This merger allows us to offer “Supercamps,” which are camps that hold up to 25 kids. For questions about camp or club please contact me at 952-201-6849 or e-mail me at Dave@FishingForLife.org Great Expectations in Christ,
Dave Lindmark
