Gem Camp

Where and When

Fishing Camps run from mid June through late August each summer. They are based on Boy Lake, 8 miles from Longville, MN, near Leech Lake, 200 miles north of the Twin Cities. GEM shares the facilities of Luther Dell Camp on Boy Lake. On occasion, additional camps are held in Canada, the BWCA, Lindesfarne near Rush City, and at Day Camps in the metro area. Transportation is provided to and from the camps. See Schedule for camp dates.

What We Do

If you are person who can never get enough fishing, this is the camp for you. Eight to ten hours of fishing during a day at GEM camp is common, though you don't have to fish that much. Swimming, canoeing, ping pong, and basketball are other favorite activities. Fishing instruction is combined with team fishing tournaments and friendly competition. GEM camps are small (12-15) which provides for good instruction and supervision.

GEM shares the facilities of several Bible camps during the summer, the main site being Lutherdell Bible camp on Boy Lake, near Remer and Longville, Minnesota  Camps are also on occasion held at Lindisfarne, a Christian retreat center near Pine City; on a island retreat on Lake of the Woods; and in the BWCA.  Two to three weeks of metro day camps round out the summer program.

Praise and worship and morning Bible study are key parts of each day. GEM staff would like to see each camper grow during the week in his/her relationship with the Lord.

GEM Camps are open to all boys and girls ages 11-17. GEM has a special outreach to youth from single parent families, but all are welcome. Staff consists of junior guides (veteran campers who have received leadership training), adult volunteer guides, and adult senior guides.
